Chelsea Pensioners enjoy Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese

London, 2nd December 2015: The Chelsea Pensioners enjoyed a taste of North Yorkshire as Wensleydale Creamery cheese was at the centre of the annual Ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses. The Wensleydale Creamery kindly donated over 5kg of their handcrafted cheese, including Wensleydale Blue, Yorkshire Wensleydale, and Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, for the Chelsea Pensioners to enjoy over the festive season. Dating back over 300 years, the Centuries-old tradition began in 1692 when the Royal Hospital asked a local cheesemonger to provide the Pensioners with cheese as a tasty Christmas treat. Wensleydale Creamery Crowned Supreme Champion at British Cheese Awards

The Wensleydale Creamery is celebrating further success after walking away with the ‘Supreme Champion’ Award for its Wensleydale Blue cheese at the 19th British Cheese Awards, held at City Hall in Cardiff.
