Celebrating some of our Yorkshire Food Heroes this Yorkshire Day

The 1st August is Yorkshire Day, an opportunity to celebrate all that’s great about God’s Own Country!
From our fantastic towns and countryside to the wonderful Yorkshire people, there’s a lot to be proud of in this County of ours and we’re joining in the celebration this year by shining a light on some of our favourite Yorkshire Food Heroes!
Located throughout our home county of North Yorkshire, along with a couple who are just a stone’s throw from us here at the Creamery in Hawes, these producers create some of the most delicious food and drink in Yorkshire and beyond, which also helpfully, pair perfectly with our range of handcrafted cheese!
You’ll find their products on our menus, in our Tasting Room, in our cheeses, our shop and online… so there’s no excuse for missing out on these delicious (and sometimes quirky) pairings!

To celebrate Yorkshire Day we’re giving away a Yorkshire Cheese Box over on our social media starting from 1st August. Our Yorkshire Cheese Box contains creamy, crumbly Yorkshire Wensleydale along with the popular Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries, the mellow creaminess of Wensleydale Blue and Naturally Oak Smoked Yorkshire Wensleydale, from the Creamery’s own smokehouse, the strong and rugged flavours of Extra Mature Yorkshire Cheddar and the buttery, creamy texture of Kit Calvert Old-Style Wensleydale, to create the perfect combination for a delicious night in and the perfect accompaniment to our Yorkshire Day hero products!

Spirit of Yorkshire (95 miles from Wensleydale Creamery)
The newest business in our round up of Yorkshire Food Heroes, Filey based Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery burst onto the scene in 2016, and their Yorkshire Whisky has since been awarded a host of national and international industry awards.

Whilst beer and wine are often hailed as the perfect partners for cheese, whisky is fast becoming the tipple of choice to pair alongside it.
A perfect pairing for us here at Wensleydale Creamery, their field to fork ethos (or field to glass in this case!) creates a great Yorkshire partnership, bringing together two artisan producers, both equally passionate about provenance and flavour!
You can find Filey Bay’s range of products featured on our Wensleydale Cheese Bar menu by the glass, and by the bottle in our Cheese and Gift Shop in our Visitor Centre.
We’re also excited to be hosting our first cheese and whisky pairing event this September, which will see 6 of Filey Bays award-winning whiskeys paired with 3 of our most popular cheeses including Yorkshire Cheddar, Wensleydale Blue and Yorkshire Wensleydale & Cranberries. It’s going to be a delicious evening and a must for any whisky enthusiast!
