Yorkshire Wensleydale with Caramelised Orange & Masons Yorkshire Gin launches
Two much-loved Yorkshire producers, Wensleydale Creamery and Masons Yorkshire Gin, have come together to produce a Yorkshire Wensleydale with Caramelised Orange & Masons Yorkshire Gin Cheese.
In search of a new cheese pairing for its famous creamy, crumbly and full of flavour Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, and responding to the ‘gin renaissance’, the Wensleydale Creamery found the perfect partner with Masons Yorkshire Gin, which when carefully combined with caramelised orange accentuated the fresh citrusy zest flavour.
The on-trend flavours of orange and gin have proved a real success with the Yorkshire Wensleydale, creating a deliciously indulgent flavour to be enjoyed by all cheese and gin lovers.
The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, based at Hawes in Wensleydale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is the home of the famous Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese. It uses traditional methods to handcraft cheese, using milk from local farms, as well as being innovative with cheese recipe development.
David Hartley, MD of the Wensleydale Creamery, commented: “We are delighted to have partnered with another fantastic Yorkshire brand to showcase the very best of our region. In times of gin renaissance, we could not pass on an opportunity to treat our customers to a special blend of our own Yorkshire Wensleydale with the fantastic Masons Yorkshire Gin. We hope our fans will love it as much as we do.”
Masons Yorkshire Gin was launched in June 2013 on World Gin Day by Cathy and Carl Mason and was the first gin to be distilled in Yorkshire, with the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre being one of the first outlets to stock it. Masons set out to produce a brand-new gin with more flavour and more character than those already on the market. The first batch was just 120 bottles – 5 years on the brand has won over 50 awards and now produces over 250,000 bottles a year.
Cathy Mason, founder of Masons Yorkshire Gin, commented: “We are so excited about the partnership between Masons and Wensleydale Creamery. Having been a fan of Yorkshire Wensleydale for many years, we never imagined one day we would be bringing our flavours together to produce an innovative gin-inspired blend of the Creamery’s delicious cheese!”
The Wensleydale Creamery’s Yorkshire Wensleydale with Caramelised Orange & Masons Yorkshire Gin is available online at www.wensleydale.co.uk, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, and independent retailers throughout the UK in 200g waxed cheese truckles and 1.25kg deli cheese from 22nd October, and launches on the deli counter in Waitrose stores nationwide from 5th December.
