HRH The Prince of Wales Visited The Wensleydale Creamery on Thursday 10 September

HRH The Prince of Wales sees the art of cheese bandaging (wrapping the cheese in cloth) part of the handcrafted process for producing the award winning Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese.

The visit to the Wensleydale Creamery, at Hawes, in the Yorkshire Dales saw HRH The Prince of Wales see the art of cheese making and meet with local farmers from the region.

The tour marked a significant milestone for cheese making at Hawes, with the Creamery who gained European Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status for its internationally renowned Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, nearing completion of a major £5 million investment in its Creamery development.

David Hartley, Managing Director of the Wensleydale Creamery said: “With a heritage that spans centuries and family roots that are firmly set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, we’re extremely proud and thrilled with HRH The Prince of Wales’ enthusiasm for our award winning cheese, the brand, the business and the community.”
