Food and drink to play starring role in Tour de Yorkshire

Yorkshire’s finest food and drink producers will be showcased to the world’s media during the Tour de Yorkshire.
Journalists from across the world will descend on Yorkshire for the international cycle race, which begins in Bridlington on Friday 28th April with the finale in Fox Valley on Sunday 30th April.

Media centres will be in place at all the finishes in Scarborough, Harrogate and Fox Valley where journalists can keep up with all the racing action, file copy and feast on delicacies from some of Yorkshire’s best loved food and drink companies.

The Wensleydale Creamery provided their handcrafted Yorkshire Wensleydale, Wensleydale Blue and Kit Calvert Old-Style Wensleydale, to be enjoyed by journalists in the media centres throughout the event.

David Hartley, Managing Director of The Wensleydale Creamery said: “The Tour de Yorkshire is a fantastic event, raising the profile of God’s Own County and bringing visitors to our local area. We were delighted to be able to provide the journalists with a taste of Yorkshire.”

Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire said: “It is well known that Yorkshire is home to some of the finest food and drink producers in the country, and many of these will be showcased at the media centres during the Tour de Yorkshire.

“I am sure the journalists coming from far and wide to cover the race will be extremely impressed with the spread laid on for them.

“I would like to thank all companies who have contributed for their generosity and help in making the Tour de Yorkshire a success.”
