Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre
Welcome to our Visitor Centre in Hawes, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Receiving over 270,000 visitors each year, our Visitor Centre incorporates a museum, viewing gallery, specialist cheese shop and fully licensed restaurant.
Our Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week Mon - Sat 9.30am – 5pm, Sun 10am – 4.30pm (Winter opening times may vary).
Cheese Experience
The ‘ Cheese Experience’ tour takes approximately 30 – 90 mins and the optimum time for viewing cheese-making is between 10.00am & 3.00pm. We do not make cheese every day, so please phone first to check before departure.
From the museum you can continue through to the viewing gallery overlooking the creamery itself. Here you are able to visualise cheese-making in Hawes today. Watch the skilled craftsmen in the cheese rooms stirring and cutting the cheese by hand.
Admission Charges: Adults £2.50, Children (5-16yrs) £1.50, Under 5's are free. Family Ticket (2 adults and 2 children) £7.00
We are making cheese on on the following days: Wednesday 28th - Sunday 1st August and Wednesday 4th - Sunday 8th August.
Cheese Shop
Our specialist cheese shop gives you the opportunity to sample all of our ranges of cheeses before you buy. See if you can resist the charm of the traditional waxed and muslin bound cheeses which line the shelves. With such a delicious range of cheeses you will find it hard to decide which ones to select.
Gift Shop
Our gift shop offers a wide range of local produce, crafts and quality gifts, together with Wallace and Gromit merchandise. From biscuits and jams to tea towels and china, you will enjoy exploring the delights of the gift shop.
Buttery Restaurant
The Buttery Restaurant is the best place to start or finish your visit to the creamery. Where better to enjoy homemade dishes featuring Real Wensleydale Cheese than the site where this famous Yorkshire delicacy is made. All our dishes are freshly prepared by our resident chef
