The Wensleydale Creamery launches Yorkshire Brie

The Wensleydale Creamery has added a Yorkshire Brie to its impressive portfolio of Yorkshire dairy products, offering a British alternative to the French classic.

The first ever brie from the famous Yorkshire Dales cheese-maker, Yorkshire Brie, is a soft and creamy cheese, handcrafted from Yorkshire milk. The new cheese is a luxurious, white mould-ripened brie with a deliciously silky texture and at its peak ripeness, a mouth-wateringly oozy cheese with a savoury flavour and a clotted cream finish.

David Hartley, Managing Director of The Wensleydale Creamery, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching Yorkshire Brie, made from Yorkshire milk, and can’t wait for our loyal customers to try it.
“The Yorkshire food brand is fast gaining recognition throughout the UK and Europe for its world-class offering – it’s fantastic to be a part of this food movement, and we are particularly proud of this new cheese paying tribute to our French cheese-making origins.”
The Yorkshire Dales are an area rich in cheese-making history, dating back to 1150 when French Cistercian monks first settled in the area.

Packaged in The Wensleydale Creamery’s premium style with its iconic branding, the brie comes in two sizes (1kg and 230g) and will join the Creamery’s portfolio of Yorkshire dairy products, including Yorkshire Wensleydale, Yorkshire Butter and Yorkshire Yogurt.

It is available from independent retailers across the UK, as well as The Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre Cheese Shop.

Received a delightful hamper for one of my Mothers’ Day gifts containing a wonderful selection of traditional Yorkshire cheeses, plus jars of Quince fruit for cheese, and Fig fruit for cheese plus two packets of savoury biscuits.
    Excellent gift.
I buy locally at Lewis and Coopers, Northallerton.
I also visit the Wensleydale Creamery whenever I visit the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
The ginger cheese-cake dessert is a real favourite.
    Thank you very much.

We tried the Wensleydale Brie at the Cheshire Show and loved it. We are now trying to find a retailer who sells it. Morrisons, Booths and other supermarkets in our area ( Mid Cheshire ) don’t stock it. Nonetheless, being typical Yorkshire folk, we will keep trying!

Just had my first taste of the Brie, fantastic, the 1kg slab nearly disappeared in one sitting and there was only the two of us, our daughter will be bringing more next time but its a long way from Askrigg to Aberdeen so will need to be patient.
