The Wensleydale Creamery is an award-winning, independent traditional cheese-maker and specialist blender of cheese with ingredients, situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Home of the famous Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese (PGI), it uses traditional methods to handcraft cheese, using milk from local farms, as well as being innovative with the development of new cheese recipes and formats, plus other dairy products. Operating across two sites, the business supplies multiple & independent retailers throughout the UK, wholesalers, manufacturers and also exports its range of products around the world. It is also home to a thriving Visitor Centre at its site in Hawes, attracting 300k visitors pa.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, creative & driven individual to join our busy team, to assist with all elements of the marketing mix, to continue to effectively develop The Wensleydale Creamery brand and deliver business performance objectives. This role would be suitable for a ‘gap year’ student, or apprenticeship for those wishing to develop a career in marketing.
A varied and ‘hands-on’ role, you will assist the team across multiple disciplines in the business from delivery of brand campaigns (including Visitor Centre activity) involving PR & brand agencies, to engagement with new product development (concept to launch), to organisation of shows and events; you will need to be an organised individual with energy and excellent communication skills, to liaise with both internal & external stakeholders. Importantly, you must be a team player.
With specific responsibility for preparation and implementation of sampling, instore promotional work & events, you will be personable with a positive attitude.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office functions will be a given, as is the necessity for excellent literacy & numeracy skills.
A keen interest in food, its production and application, plus agriculture and the countryside would be desirable.
Predominantly based at the Hawes site and occasionally at the Kirkby Malzeard site, with travel to events as & when required, a full driving licence is essential.
