Wensleydale Creamery Wins A Trio Of Cheese Awards
Jul 22, 2011
The Wensleydale Creamery, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, has won another clutch of awards – this time at the Cheshire County Show.
At the Show, the honours comprised:
• Jervaulx Blue – gold: blue category • Real Yorkshire Wensleydale tall – gold • Real Yorkshire Wensleydale - bronze
David Hartley, The Wensleydale Creamery’s managing director, said: “We entered four categories and for three of our cheeses to win recognition in the form of two gold and one bronze award is praise indeed for the quality of our products and the hard work and skills of our master cheese makers.
“Our milk is supplied by a network of more than 40 local family-run farms where cows graze on wild flowers, herbs and grasses that grow on the limestone meadows – this all helps give our Real Yorkshire Wensleydale its unique and special taste.
“We are now looking forward to showcasing our products at the Great Yorkshire and Nantwich Shows.” Jervaulx Blue, which represents a substantial investment for the Creamery, was its most significant product launch last year and is continuing to build on its initial success with positive sales figures and a number of awards.
It is aimed at the sector of the market that is adopting a more continental taste and blends blue cheese traditional characteristics with a more creamy and sophisticated texture and taste.
