Third key strategic appointment at The Wensleydale Creamery
Nov 24, 2009
The Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes in North Yorkshire, has made a third key senior appointment as it embarks on a business boosting programme.
Paul Savage is The Wensleydale Creamery's new Senior National Account Manager for Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys.
This follows the recruitment of Peter Andrew as Commercial Director and Sarah Case as a Senior National Account Manager for the company.
Paul has 20 years' fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sales experience, spanning the alcoholic drinks, confectionery and dairy sectors.
He has worked in senior national account management roles dealing with the multiple grocers for Dairy Crest, Anheuser Busch and, most recently, Thatchers Cider, where he was responsible for the National Account and Field Sales teams.
Paul, who is married with two children, said: "The Wensleydale Creamery is entering an exciting period of development and I am looking forward to playing a part in this significant stage of the business's progress.
"It has recently launched its "Making Provenance Matter" campaign to highlight to customers that its Real Yorkshire Wensleydale is the only Wensleydale cheese actually made in Wensleydale. Also next year it is hoping its Real Yorkshire Wensleydale will be awarded Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status by Europe."
David Hartley, The Wensleydale Creamery's Managing Director, said: "Paul's appointment will add further breadth and depth to the expertise at The Wensleydale Creamery, which will help drive forward the business's plans for growth.
"The coming year is going to be an important one for The Wensleydale Creamery as we should get a decision on our bid for PDO status and as we further expand our "Making Provenance Matter" campaign. Therefore, it is vital that we have people of Peter's, Paul's and Sarah's calibre on our team."
