Jan 05, 2012

The Wensleydale Creamery, at Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, has experienced a substantial increase in its online cheese ordering business.

Mail order sales soar at The Wensleydale Creamery

Compared to November and December 2010, The Wensleydale Creamery, which employs more than 200 people, saw its mail order cheese sales soar by nearly 200 per cent in the run-up to the festive period 2011.

The most popular products included the miniature waxed cheese truckles and yuletide hampers packed with The Wensleydale Creamery's handcrafted cheeses and locally-sourced food accompaniments such as cheese biscuits, fruitcake, chutney and real ale.

This element of the business has proved so successful that The Wensleydale Creamery is looking at ways to expand the service in the coming months.

David Hartley, The Wensleydale Creamery's Managing Director, said: "Our strong mail order performance puts the business on a firm footing for 2012.

"These sales suggest that many people are increasingly looking to the internet to find those unique food gifts from the comfort of their own home. The ability for us to deliver throughout the UK, meant customers could enjoy our handcrafted cheeses whether they were in England, Scotland or Wales.

"We have been able to achieve this success due to the hard work, commitment and dedication of our staff, who take pride in hand-crafting cheeses to time-honoured recipes and providing a top quality service to customers.
